Joey Evans, 19th President of the FCM August 1, 2017-July 31, 2020

The FCM is filled with the most loving members and families. The FCM organization has always excelled because it doesn’t belong to one person or to a board or even to the members, it has always belonged to Him…and it’s shown through the joy that is shown here!”

“…I tried puppeteering, but my arm got WAY too tired. I tried doing mime, but I wanted to talk too much. So I found magic. I annoyingly hung around with people like the Laflins year after year and dove into magic…”

“Looking back on my term as president, I’m so happy with what we accomplished. When the world was going through Covid, we decided instead of cancelling the convention to have virtual one and made it entirely free! It was simply wonderful! So many members past and present stepped up and presented. We had attendees from all over the world and it ran for three days morning to night…Also, while president, I started implementing videos into the magazines via QR codes and expanded our library to include more videos…I wanted to expand the library and the organization to be more of a community of knowledge.”

Although I was only able to serve one term due to my schedule, I want to continue to give back to the organization that has given so much to me. Christ works through the FCM in so many ways and His love is shown through each of the members… I’ve met some of my best friends and even met my wife there! From growing up there as a kid to performing and lecturing there as an adult. The FCM has never been an organization to me, it’s been a family. There’s nothing else like it!”

“I was introduced to the FCM through my mother. She led a puppet troupe and mime troupe and used the FCM convention to learn these arts. I remember being 8 years old going to the convention and just being amazed by the performers there. Not only the performers, but their openness to share with me. Soon, I toured with my mother’s troupe, MCing the productions with magic…From there on, I rarely missed a convention. The FCM was a huge part of my life.”

For many years, Joey, along with some friends, MC’d the Late Show at the FCM Conventions. Things could get a little crazy as comedy was always a high priority.

I went to college for Pre-Med in Nashville and performed close-up magic on weeknights and stage magic whenever I could. After college, I performed everywhere from cruise ships to comedy clubs trying to find my niche…I even owned a magic shop…Finally, I settled on doing corporate magic and motivational speaking…”
